Springbok captain Siya Kolisi has been heavily linked with a return to the Stormers amid a public divorce that split the country.

However, an insider source reports no negotiations between Stormers and Sharks, saying, "The Stormers have not even formally approached the Sharks about the possibility of releasing Siya from his contract early."

With no apparent talks to speak of, Sharks seem set to keep their newly converted number 8.

Why would Kolisi want to return to Cape Town?

Weeks before the Springboks 2024 Autumn series in the United Kingdom – which entailed games against Scotland, England and Wales – Kolisi and then wife Rachel announced their separation.

The Springbok leader left the Mother City in 2020, leaving the Stormers, Rachel, and their two kids in Cape Town for Durban's Sharks before signing with Racing 92; however, his stint in Europe was short-lived, shortly returning to the Durban outfit.

Kolisi is apparently keen on a Stormers reunion to be closer to his children. However, with no concrete evidence of this being the case, it's all up in the air whether the 33-year-old is pushing for a move.

McKenzie speaks on SA Rugby

Moving on from Kolisi, Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie has called for cohesion in SA Rugby amid their historic equity deal negotiations.

"I think the time has come for us to move on," said McKenzie.

"SA Rugby must find alternative sources of revenue and they must just kill this thing because it has caused a lot of unnecessary fighting, division, and strife.

"SA Rugby must think outside of the box, and I have faith in SA Rugby's leadership in terms of finding another alternative.

"I have seen another proposal, with my own eyes, from the Rupert group. It is better than the ASG proposal and I don't think the Rupert group would bring a proposal and not bring it to SA Rugby.

"They must have given it to SA Rugby, but I have seen the proposal. I said the guys must come to the table, and I've seen the proposals.

"Those are esteemed businesspeople who have access to SA Rugby and must have spoken to SA Rugby. Guys must come together now because not even the unions are talking to each other."
