Saffas Abroad: Green lights up the Stoop

Tyrone Green delivered a man of the match performance for Harlequins in the English Premiership, one of several South Africans flying the flag for foreign clubs on the weekend.
English Premiership
Green starred for Harlequins in a nail-biting 22-19 win over Northampton Saints. Stephan Lewies captained Quins and was joined in the pack by tighthead Simon Kerrod, while Jordan Els and Irne Herbst came on as second half replacements. Bruising loose forward Juarno Augustus started the game for Northampton.
Hanro Liebenberg returned from injury for Leicester Tigers as he lined up with Handre Pollard in their 38-31 away defeat to Ruan Ackermann's Gloucester at Kingsholm. Pollard kicked four conversions and a penalty for a total of 11 points.
Jacques Vermeulen and Kwenzo Blose featured for Exeter Chiefs in a thrilling 31-22 bonus-point win over Saracens, captained by Ivan van Zyl.
There was a showcase of South African talent in Sale as log leaders Bath enjoyed a 32-23 away win over the Sharks. Sale's large contingent of Saffas featured, including twins Jean-Luc and Dan du Preez in the loose trio behind locks Ernst van Rhyn and Hyron Andrews. Rob du Preez captained Sale from flyhalf and contributed 13 points via a try, two penalties and a conversion. For Bath, props Thomas du Toit and Francois van Wyk were in action while Louis Schreuder and Jaco Coetzee each celebrated their milestone 50th appearance.
Benhard Janse van Rensburg lined up in the midfield for Bristol Bears who scored eight tries to defeat Newcastle Falcons 55-35 in a shootout at Ashton Gate. For the Falcons, Seb de Chaves and Philip van der Walt started, while tighthead Luan de Bruin came off the bench.

Bok duo Cobus Reinach and Jan Serfontein were part of the Montpellier side that went down 27-17 to Toulouse at the Stade Ernest Wallon.
Ex-Kearsney playmaker Tristan Tedder kicked 10 points for Racing 92 in their 27-20 home defeat to Castres. Also to feature for the Paris side were No 8 Hacjivah Dayimani and tighthead Lee-Marvin Mazibuko.
Former Sharks players JJ van der Mescht and Jeremy Ward started for Stade Francais, but they couldn't prevent a 33-28 defeat to Vannes in a crucial match between the league's bottom two sides.
Burly Bok loose forward Arno Botha made an appearance at No 8 for Lyon in their surprise 22-20 win away from home at Bordeaux. Carlu Sadie and Rohan Janse van Rensburg featured for Bordeaux.
The Top 14 clash at the Stade Felix Mayol was captained by a pair of Saffas as David Ribbans led Toulon to a 45-26 victory over Dillyn Leyds‘ La Rochelle, the latter scoring a try from fullback.
