Pieter-Steph du Toit primed to be big winner at SA Rugby awards TONIGHT!

When taking a look at all the nominees for the SA Rugby awards, there is no doubt that it is the prized accolade of Men's Player of the Year where it is the most difficult to predict a winner.
Five members of the Rugby World Cup-winning Springbok squad in France – Pieter-Steph du Toit, Eben Etzebeth, Ox Nche, Damian de Allende, and Cheslin Kolbe – were nominated for the coveted SA Rugby Men's Player of the Year Award for 2024, with Du Toit leading to the race to clinch the coveted prize.
The nominees – as voted for by members of the media and key stakeholders within the governing body – were announced late last year. And the winners from the nine categories will be named TONIGHT (Thursday, 13 March).
WILL PIETER-STEPH DU TOIT TAKE THE BIG AWARD?
Du Toit will face stern competition from Etzebeth, the winner of the Player of the Year Award in 2022 and 2023 respectively, as well as Bok scrum anchor Nche, hot-stepper Kolbe and unsung hero De Allende.
In the women’s category, Nadine Roos is in line for the Springbok Women's Player of the Year, but will go up against against former winner Aseza Hele, Libbie Janse van Rensburg, Chumisa Qawe, and Vainah Ubisi.
One of the five nominees for the Young Player of the Year Award – Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu – was also on the shortlist last year, and will have to beat off the challenges of Cameron Hanekom, Jordon Hendrikse, Quan Horn and Henco van Wyk.
