Saracens have issued a statement followed the arrest of Billy Vunipola for violent conduct in bar in Palma, where he first threatened fellow customers before fighting with the police.

According to The Daily Mail, Vunipola was vacationing on the Spanish Island when the incident took place during which he drunkenly removed his shirt and started verbally assaulting and threatening customers and employees at the bar.

The police was called in to defuse the situation, but Vunipola is alleged to have slapped one of the officers and was also captured laughing at the officers as he resisted arrest.

The police had to taser Vunipola twice in order subdue him before eight officers worked in tandem to safely arrest him in the early hours of Sunday morning and was transported to hospital, where he was sedated.

Vunipola was later taken to a police station and has since been released on bail, pending an investigation.

SARACENS AWARE OF VUNIPOLA INCIDENT

Saracens released the following statement on Monday morning, confirming that the club is aware of the incident.

“Saracens is aware of an incident involving Billy Vunipola in Majorca. We will of course deal with this incident internally, and will not make any further comment until then.”

Vunipola played for Saracens in the Premiership win against Bath on Friday night, but was given this week off, as the club is not part of this weekend's European semi-finals.

The 31-year-old earned the last of his 75 Test caps in the 2023 World Cup semi-final against South Africa and was left out of Steve Borthwick's England squad for the Six Nations.

And following his latest antics in Spain, Vunipola is most likely to also miss out on selection for England’s mid-year Test series against the All Blacks in New Zealand.
