Leon MacDonald is reportedly set to land a top Super Rugby role in Australia, marking his first coaching job since his sudden All Blacks exit last year.

According to the New Zealand Herald, MacDonald's move could also position him as a future Wallabies candidate once Joe Schmidt steps down after the 2025 Rugby Championship.

MacDonald departed as All Blacks attack coach just five Tests into Scott Robertson's tenure, reportedly due to irreconcilable differences.

Now, the former Blues boss is close to signing a short-term director of rugby deal with the Force, where he would work alongside head coach Simon Cron.

Since leaving the All Blacks, MacDonald has frequently been linked with a future Wallabies role, given his strong connection with Schmidt from their time at the Blues.

An official announcement on MacDonald's appointment is expected soon.
