Grey College came back to beat Oakdale in Bloemfontein while Paarl Gim overpowered Stellenberg in the Cape Winelands, reports ALLAN SCHULZ.
Grey kept Oakdale scoreless in the second half, rallying from a two-point half-time deficit for a 25-10 win against Oakdale. Grey's pack struggled in the first half, but gained parity in the second and their dangerous backline, featuring powerful centre Ethan Adams, put on a show.
In the first King Price Derby Series fixture, hosts Paarl Gim overcame local rivals Stellenberg 39-17, with captain and talisman Markus Muller carrying on from where he left off last season, scoring a hatt-rick for Gim.
In the final King Price fixture of the day, DHS scored two quick-fire tries at the end of the first half to take the wind out of the sails of Maritzburg College and register a comfortable 29-13 win, with College scoring a late consolation try.
