Franco focused on Glasgow – for now

Franco Smith says he is committed to the Glasgow Warriors after being linked to the Wales head coach job.
On Tuesday, the Welsh Rugby Union announced that Warren Gatland had left his role by "mutual agreement" and replaced with Cardiff head coach Matt Sherratt for the Dragons’ final three matches of the Six Nations.
Wales had suffered a record 14 consecutive Test defeats under Gatland, the last of which was a 22-15 loss to Italy in Rome.
"It's a difficult one to answer,” Smith told The Scotsman when asked about speculation linking him to the Wales job.
“My focus is absolutely here with the [Glasgow] squad for now. Currently I have no real comment to make. It’s a compliment to be mentioned in all these conversations and I'm appreciative of that.
"For now I'm just focusing on what is going to happen next year. My contract here is until 2026. There are conversations and I'm really privileged and honoured to be a part of it. But for now I'm not going to let that distract me from what needs to be done next year."
Smith has also been tipped as a possible replacement for Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend, whose contract with the national team ends in 2026.
