Varsity Cup/Shield 2025 - fixtures and kick-off times

The 2025 edition of the Varsity Cup will kick-off on Monday, February 17 - with UCT hosting the North West University Eagles at the Green Mile in Cape Town.
The Varsity Shield starts a few days prior on Friday, February 14, but there will be no love lost when 2024 runners-up Varsity College take on a Madibaz side who are determined to get back into the top-tier Varsity Cup again.
The competition has been a great platform for players who are were bloomers, needed a second chance after falling out of favour with their unions or simply just an opportunity to break into big leagues.
There are currently 60 Springboks that have been produced through the competition's pathway.
This includes 19 World Cup winners such as Handré Pollard, Eben Etzebeth, Damian de Allende, Manie Libbok and Kurt-Lee Arendse to name a few.
The latest Test stars that came from the crop of 2024 are Johan Grobbelaar, André-Hugo Venter, Morne van den Berg, Jordan Hendrikse, Edwill van der Merwe, Ben-Jason Dixon and Ruan Nortje.
