Ireland boss Andy Farrell has made it crystal clear—he's not eyeing a return to Twickenham any time soon.

Competition: Get a Chance to Watch the Lions in Australia

Despite being one of the bookies' frontrunners to replace Steve Borthwick after the 2027 Rugby World Cup, the Englishman has no interest in swapping green for white. Currently gearing up to lead the British & Irish Lions this summer, Farrell has distanced himself from any potential reunion with the Red Rose setup.

Irish Eyes Are Smiling

Since taking charge in 2019, Farrell has transformed Ireland into a world-beating force. Under his leadership, they've topped the world rankings, conquered New Zealand on their own turf in 2022, secured a Triple Crown, and sealed a stunning Grand Slam earlier this year.

Locked In Until 2027

Farrell recently penned a new deal to stay on as head coach of the Men's national team through to the end of the 2027 Rugby World Cup—killing off any short-term speculation around an England return.

"When you make a decision, you commit and that's it," he said when quizzed about the England job.

Family First

The former Saracens stalwart also made it clear that coaching abroad isn't just about the rugby—it's a full family affair.

"I'm very lucky that it wasn't just me committing, it was my wife and kids as well," he added.
"Whether you think it's a short flight or just across the water—it's still living abroad. It's a big move. Kids out of school, new routines. That kind of sacrifice, I'll never forget. I'm forever grateful."

All In on Ireland

Farrell summed it all up with a smile:
"We love it here. We're loving life here—and the rugby's pretty good as well."

Three England Stars Who Could Lose Their Central Contracts

Last October, England handed out 17 enhanced Elite Player Squad (EPS) contracts as part of the shiny new Professional Game Partnership deal.

It gave head coach Steve Borthwick more control than ever, including the final word on all sports science and medical matters.

Among the big winners were George Ford, Marcus Smith and Fin Smith – all three fly-halves receiving upgraded deals ahead of the autumn internationals.

But fast forward six months, and not all those golden ticket holders are sitting pretty. We take a look at three players who could be on the chopping block ahead of the next round of central contract decisions.

#1. Henry Slade – The Class Act Losing His Place

Slade's silky style has long made him a favourite with fans – but his Six Nations was anything but smooth. Once pencilled in as a midfield maestro, he now finds himself completely out of Borthwick's 23.

His combination with Ollie Lawrence never quite clicked, and although there were flickers of promise, it wasn’t enough to convince the coaches. Slade was ultimately cast aside in favour of Fraser Dingwall, and now his England future – and his central contract – looks seriously uncertain.

Possible replacement: Fraser Dingwall

The mid-Six Nations switch that saw him take Slade’s place has given Dingwall a solid opportunity to make a real push for a long-term role in the squad. A gritty and intelligent player, he's an ideal fit in the centre and could continue his rise with consistent performances.
