
Former Stormers coach dies

Former Stormers and Western Province coach Kobus van der Merwe has passed away.
According to Netwerk24, the 58-year-old died on Thursday evening after a long illness.
Van der Merwe played as a centre and fullback for Griquas, Border and Western Province, before moving into coaching.
He coached both Border and Griquas, winning the 2005 Vodacom Cup with the latter, before taking charge of the Stormers in the 2006 and 2007 Super 14 tournaments.
Van der Merwe is survived by his wife and two sons.
