Springbok lock RG Snyman has signed a contract extension with Leinster.

Since joining the club from Irish rivals Munster ahead of the 2024-25 season, the 30-year-old double World Cup winner has made 14 appearances, including seven starts.

In contrast, he earned just 20 caps for Munster in four seasons due to a spate of injuries.

Snyman’s decision to stay at Leinster may have been influenced by former Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber, who joined the club after the 2023 World Cup.

“You want to work under somebody like Jacques again to better yourself some more, so it's brilliant for me to be able to do it,” Snyman said earlier this season.

The news will disappoint Bulls coach Jake White, who said after their 21-20 win against Leinster last weekend that he’d love to have the second rower – and other Boks abroad – back in Pretoria.

"I sign guys like RG Snyman to come back here and I do that," White said when asked how his side could become more consistent. "And now you look at me like I'm crazy but look at RG, shouldn't he be playing for the Bulls?

"Then home form and everything falls into place. We saw that game tonight, the one guy in the forwards that controls everything is RG and the one guy in the backs controlling everything is [All Blacks centre] Jordie Barrett."
