The votes are in and Springbok fans are very happy with the current green and gold jersey, having binned the idea to copycat the All Blacks’ retro jersey.

With the All Blacks having unveiled a special edition strip that harks back to their 1995 Rugby World Cup jersey design , an SA Rugby magazine poll asked readers if the Boks should consider a similar throwback.

The answer was clear – almost 50% of voters opted for the Boks to stick with the current design. The iconic 2007 Rugby World Cup winning design received 24% of votes while the historic 1995 World Cup winning jersey was close behind with a little more than 21% of the vote.

It is clear most of South Africa would like to leave the disappointment of the 2011 Rugby World Cup behind them as only 6% of voters in favour of a design based on that jersey.
