Tale of the Tape: Jukskei derby edition

The eighth episode of the URC’s Jukskei derby will play out at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday when the Vodacom Bulls host the Lions, and history promises a cracking contest.
2021-22
Once upon a time… an age-old rivalry spilled into the URC in January of 2022. Ellis Park was the arena and the Bulls tamed their Highveld rivals.
The Bulls streaked to victory in the return match to make it two from two, though the Lions took heart from keeping pace in the second half.
2022-23
A new season did nothing to change the status quo as the Bulls opened their campaign with a convincing win at the Lions Den.
The Lions clawed back to clinch their first URC Jukskei derby victory, streaking into an early lead and then holding on for the win, at Loftus nogal!
2023-24
It could have gone either way, but the Bulls restored order in round 9 of the following season – Johan Goosen nailing a monster penalty to edge the Lions and give the Bulls a 4-1 advantage in the derby.
Three weeks later, a powerful fourth-quarter flurry sent the Lions to the canvas at Ellis Park.
2024-25
The same recipe produced the same result in January as the Bulls came back from a half-time deficit to score 27 points in the second half for the win.
