Sharks to poach Bok star?

Sale Sharks are reportedly not done raiding the Lions' den, with a Springbok hot-stepper in their sights to join Marius Louw at the English Premiership outfit next season.
Rapport suggests that Sale are eyeing Lions winger Edwill van der Merwe as their next South African recruit. The 28-year-old is weighing up his options, with both the Lions and Sharks in Durban also interested in retaining his services.

Van der Merwe, who made his Test debut against Wales last year, has been with the Lions since 2021. Injuries have limited his international appearances to one cap but his attacking prowess remains highly rated.
Sale last week announced the signing of Lions centre Louw on a two-year deal, set to join at the end of the 2024-25 season.
The Manchester-based club has a history of signing South Africans, with the likes of Faf de Klerk and Lood de Jager to have played there and the Du Preez brothers (Rob, Jean-Luc and Dan), Ernst van Rhyn and Le Roux Roets among those currently on the books.
