It's a potentially championship-defining weekend in the Six Nations with three matches that will have a significant impact on the outcome of the tournament.

Wales begin life without head coach Warren Gatland as they face the daunting task of hosting Ireland on Saturday, before old rivals England and Scotland go head-to-head at Twickenham.

Sunday’s action comes from Rome as Italy look to build on their win over Wales when they host a wounded French side at the Stadio Olimpico to complete the third round of fixtures.

Six Nations Week 3 tips

  • Wales v Ireland – Ireland -23.0 handicap @ 10/11
  • England v Scotland – Scotland +8.0 handicap @ 1/1
  • Italy v France – Italy +19.0 handicap @ 4/5

Wales v Ireland – Saturday, February 22nd (14:15 KO)

A 22-15 defeat to Italy in Rome last time out was the final straw for Wales, who parted company with Warren Gatland and brought in interim head coach Matt Sherratt.

It's a baptism of fire for Sherratt against an Ireland side who are on course for the Grand Slam after wins over England and Scotland.

After scoring just two tries across their first two games against France and Italy, it's hard to see where the points are going to come from for Wales this weekend.

Ireland have made seven changes but their players seem to slot into their roles perfectly whenever they are called upon.

The Irish should be too strong for Wales and the visitors can cover the substantial -23 handicap in Cardiff.

England v Scotland – Saturday, February 22nd (16:45 KO)

England will be desperate to end a four-match losing streak to old rivals Scotland when they meet at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham.

Steve Borthwick's England will be buoyed by their 26-25 win over France in an error-strewn game that could have gone either way, while Scotland had a match to forget in a 32-18 defeat to Ireland at Murrayfield.

Scotland have been boosted by the news that fly-half Finn Russell has come through concussion protocols to feature in a fixture in which he has enjoyed plenty of success over recent years.

England are strong at home and they might well be able to end their losing streak in the Calcutta Cup.

However, the Scots have the attacking threat in the backs to cause the hosts problems and are worth backing with an eight-point handicap start.

Italy v France – Sunday, February 23rd (15:00 KO)

After a thrilling 13-13 draw in Lille the last time these sides met, all eyes will be on the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday when Italy host France in Rome.

France were fortunate to avoid defeat on home soil last season, with Paolo Garbisi's last-gasp penalty striking the post.

Les Bleus struggled on their last visit to the Italian capital and were made to work for the 29-25 victory in that 2023 Six Nations encounter.

Given how tight the recent battles between these sides have been, look to Italy with a generous +19 handicap in the Eternal City.
