Sharks flyer cited for dangerous tackle

The Sharks could be without fullback Hakeem Kunene for a clash against Cardiff at Arms Park on Saturday for a dangerous hit in the Investec Champions Cup.
The EPCR received a citing complaint against the outside back after a heavy defeat by Bordeaux Begles for the Sharks in their final match of the pool stages at Stade Chaban-Delmas last week.
Kunene is alleged to have dangerously tackled Bordeaux winger Arthur Retiere in the 12th minute of the match in contravention of Law 9.13. He was subsequently yellow carded by referee Christophe Ridley.
"A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously," read a statement released by EPCR organisers on Tuesday.
Kunene will appear before an independent disciplinary committee on Wednesday, and faces a sanction from two to 52 weeks.
A late replacement for Eduan Keyter on Sunday, Kunene crossed the whitewash as the Sharks started superbly with two tries in the first eight minutes in the southwest of France.
However, the 21-year-old was one of three players injured in the 10-try demolition that ended the Sharks' participation in the Champions Cup this season.
The action in the Vodacom URC returns this week with the fifth-placed Sharks visiting Cardiff in round 10 of the competition.
