Sharks chase Edwill the Eagle

Edwill van der Merwe is reportedly a top target for the Sharks as the Springbok and Lions flyer weighs up his options at Ellis Park.

According to Rapport, Van der Merwe has caught the Sharks' attention as they look to bolster their backline next season.

The 28-year-old winger, whose contract with the Lions expires at the end of the season, has yet to commit to an extension with the Johannesburg-based side.

The Sharks are said to be pushing for Van der Merwe, who can also cover fullback, to join their ranks despite strong interest from European clubs.

Known for attracting top talent like Jordan Hendrikse and the Tshituka brothers, the Durban-based franchise is keen to strengthen its depth out wide after Werner Kok's departure to Ulster.
