Souths keep slim finals hopes alive with impressive victory over Parramatta

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have now gone seven weeks without suffering a defeat after a 32-16 win over the Parramatta Eels on Thursday night at CommBank Stadium.

Entering this match on the heels of four straight victories, the Rabbitohs were full of confidence against an Eels struggling to maintain breathing room in the battle for last place.

Souths started off the game looking the likelier of the two sides to score and went on to notch up the first points of the night through Jacob Gagai.

Jack Wighton extended Souths' lead in the 32nd minute but Blaize Talagi answered back for the Eels to keep them within reaching distance going into the break.

Both sides took it up a notch in the second half on the attacking front, starting with Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Latrell Mitchell getting their teams' first points.

It was all one-way traffic from there with Souths putting on an impressive display on both sides of the ball to walk away with the much-needed win.
