INJURY UPDATE: Stormers forwards coach Rito Hlungwani provided an update regarding the injury status of Springbok rookie Sasha-Feinburg Mngomezulu on Monday.

The utility back suffered a hip injury following a tackle by Lions prop Asenathi Ntlabakanye in the Stormers' 29-10 victory over the Johannesburg-based outfit.

Feinburg-Mngomezulu has suffered his fair share of injuries during his young career, so there were understandably great concern when he suffered another knock this past weekend.

Hlungwani confirmed that the playmaker has trained with the team on Monday and that the injury doesn't seem too serious as initially feared.

"It's always nice when a player comes back from injury.

"In this case Sasha [Feinberg-Mngomezulu] so we're quite happy to have him back.

"It's a pity that he went off early [against the Lions] but he was on the field [training on Monday].

"It didn't look to serious so we're quite happy that it's possible that we could select him this weekend."

Hlungwani highlighted the value of the 22-year-old even when he's injured, but is also hopeful that he'll spend more time on the pitch rather than being on the sidelines.

"It's unfortunate, no one ever goes out to get injured.

"He's just been quite unlucky with it.

"Hopefully he can string a couple of games together.

"The one thing I'll tell you is that he's always engaged even when he's injured.

"He's always around our training centre.

"He contributes in how we plan our weeks and training and how we analyse other teams.

"As much as you guys don't see him, we still see his contribution.

"The fact that he still feels part of the team and wants to give team.

"In terms of analysing, sharing information and seeing things the guys are not seeing.

"In a perfect world we want him to string a couple of games together."
